York Blob Replica

York Blob Replica

After my last post about York Blob dimensions I got a couple made using these dimensions.

I got them turned using the 30 blob and 40 blob dimensions. I also opted for no flatter side, so they are York blobesque more than anything.

The biggest one (on the right) is 21.4kg (47lb) and the smaller one is 15.9kg (35lb)

These are gonna be a lot of fun!

Thanks to Jason Steeves (a very accomplished and knowledgeable grip man) for helping me find the blob dimensions. Check out Jason's Grip blog Shoggoth Basement

York BLOB Dimensions|Make Your Own

York BLOB Dimensions|Make Your Own

Know anyone with a lathe or someone who works in a machine shop?

If so then they could possibly help you make a York BLOB Replica

What is a York Blob

The york blob is literally the end of a York Dumbbell cut off and used to train grip strength. The lift itself is made very difficult by the fact that the blob is very wide smooth making the lift much harder.

I believe the original blob was from a 100lb dumbbell.

Here are dimensions for different weighted blobs

30 lb. blob
3-1/4" at top sloping out to 4-3/8" Height 6-3/8"

35 lb. blob
3-9/16" at top sloping out to 5" Height 6-1/2"

40 lb. blob
3-3/4" at top sloping out to 5-1/4" Height 6-13/16"

45 lb. blob
3-13/16" at top sloping out to 5-1/2" Height 6-15/16"

50 lb. blob
3-7/8" at top sloping out to 5-1/2" Height 7-7/16"
